Notes
The FATTORIA di LORNANO winery has been in the Taddei' s family estate for more than three generations. The estate amounts to 450 acres of which almost one-third is vineyard located on the hills which decline from Castellina in Chianti to Monteriggioni.
The main body of the winery and of the residences are in the small village of LORNANO, which rose around the IX Century church. To this church Pope Innocenzo IV entrusted the supervision of the diocese and of the embodied farms.
It is not certain when the land passed to private property, but most likely during the first war between Florence and Siena.
The winery and the annexed villa gathered the present shape in the XVIII Century .
The FATTORIA di LORNANO winery was one of the founders of the "Consorzio del Marchio Storico Chianti Classico Gallo Nero"(Consortium of the Historic Trademark - Chianti Classico Black Rooster).
On the 450 acres the FATTORIA di LORNANO winery produces, in addition to premium wines, rare olive oils and cereals.
The wine is originated exclusively from the winery's estate and it is vinificated in a brand- new cellar-site provided with steel tanks with regulated temperature. The wine is then aged in the old cellar-site, which is situated in the basement of the villa, where the barrels and the barriques are located.
In addition to the exquisite "Chianti Classico -Black Rooster" the winery produces "Chianti D.O.C.G.", "Vin Santo del Chianti Classico D.O.C." and extra-virgin olive oil.
