Notes
Meloni wines, nearly all “DOC”, are obtained from hundreds of hectares of vineyards of three Estates, all extended to organic cultivation, each specialising in different varieties of grapes, according to the position and the composition of the soil. In the plains of Decimomannu are the red grapes Cannonau, Monica, Cabernet, Bovale, Pascale and Sirah; in the hills, the grapes for the delicate white wines such as Vermentino, Nuragus, Pinot, Torbato, Prosecco and Chardonnay; in Estate near Selargius, are grown all the grapes that make the famous Sardinian dessert wines: Moscato, Nasco, Malvasia, Girò. These wines are the pearls of the Sardinian oenology and Meloni have believed in these dessert wines, which are becoming rare everyday by replanting these vine varieties, while the majority of the producers were extirpating, because of the low yield and therefore low returns. Now these wines have great success and they have been judged the best “wines for meditation”. |
